WHAT
WE DO

At the moment, our actions are concentrated in Buuri, a district in Kenya’s countryside, where about half of the population lives below the poverty line and where there is no education that is truly offered for free.

By law, only the Primary Schools are offered for free. In practice, however, it does not happen: There is usually not enough money to pay the teachers in the schools and the families end up covering their salaries and other school fees. The high school, in its turn, is entirely paid even at the public institutions. Children that cannot afford the school fees are deprived from access to education.

Besides that, the majority of the population has no access to basic sanitation, health treatment or regular food, and live in poor conditions, which has a negative effect on the quality of their education, perpetuating the poverty cycle throughout generations.

WHY IN KENYA??

We currently work in Kenya because we identified that besides the extreme vulnerability of the local population and the lack of resources and investments in the region’s development, we could generate big changes with a reasonably small amount of money (specially compared to other places, like Brazil, where there’s are a lot of taxes and bureaucracy). But our goal is to work all over the world wherever we can be helpful, and we are working towards that!

ATTENTION: due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase of the dollar exchange rate and the changes in the tax regimen in Brazil (where we used to concentrate our fundraising efforts), we had some serious financial problems.  The situation became even more alarming since the schools are all closed to prevent the virus contamination and hundreds of kids are at risk of starvation and need our support more than ever!

Now, we expanded our campaigns to other countries in the hopes of raising funds internationally to hand out
emergency provisions to the families that used to be benefited by our projects. Understand what changed >>

OUR projects

ENDELEZA DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
KAITHE

In our study center, children aged 3 to 14 from the community of Kaithe attend activities of cognitive stimulation, study support sessions, sports and arts. The EDC opens every Saturday and also offers every meal of the day.

We want to develop our children in all areas and intelligences, besides making sure that they are having a lot of fun!

  • Up to 45 students attend the EDC on Saturdays
  • 3 meals are provided per day
  • We support 3 employees (teacher, cook and assistant)

SUSTAINABLE PRIMARY SCHOOL
MUGAE

In Mugae’s Primary School, we ensure free education to children aged 3 to 14!

In this very poor region, there is no truly free education and the families need to pay for the school’s expenses so their children can attend the classes. As many parents could not cover these costs, the children from this region didn’t have another choice other than getting a job breaking stones to help support their families.

But all of it has changed thanks to our supporters! We now cover the costs of all the school meals and pay for the salaries of two teachers, the cook and one school watchman.

In 2018 we started a project of community engagement with representatives of the community, parents and students. We want them to find creative and sustainable ways to solve the social problems that they have to deal with and, for such, we believe that the best is to promote local potential! This is part of a big change in the way we act.

  • 250 pupils
  • 2 meals per day
  • 2 teachers
  • 1 cook
  • 1 watchman

SPONSORSHIP
RUIRI

This program is how we started acting. We guarantee that teenagers aged 14 to 18 are able to complete their studies in high school, in a country where there is no free education for this age range.

At the moment we support seven girls in Ruiri Girls’ Secondary School, a boarding school that ensures that they have food, accommodation, education and everything they need for their development.

The people responsible for supporting these students are the sponsors. They are able to keep in touch with their sponsored students and follow their academic performance throughout the program.

  • mulher 7 sponsored girls in secondary school
  • Monthly tuition in a boarding school
  • 5 meals per day
  • Full board accommodation
